Mobile browser ‘Tarjani’ launched resembling the index finger of Bangabandhu
On the historic occasion of 7th March, the ICT Division released the national mobile browser ‘Tarjani’ (Index Finger) to help people using the Internet easily in Bangla (Bengali language). Not only Bengali in the browser; English language is also available for users. This safe and fast Bangladeshi browser will be available on Apple and Google Play stores.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the browser at the BCC Conference Center of ICT Tower on Tuesday.
He said that we are now entering Smart Bangladesh from Digital Bangladesh. To get the benefits of this smart Bangladesh, we should not only depend on foreign services. We have to be self-reliant. We want to create a 'Smart Bangladesh Ecosystem', which will be self-sustaining. We have brought 'Tarjani' for that independent smart Bangladesh.
'On the historic 7th March, everything was directed with the direction of the finger of Bangabandhu to 7 and a half crore people, including bank-insurance, office courts of the country. He gave directions of the liberation war with that index finger. How he instructed to jump into battle against a military power – pointing at everything. That's why we have named our own browser after that index finger' - added the state minister.
Palak also said, we want to build a self-reliant smart Bangladesh where we will have our own operating system, users will use the Internet in their own browser. We want, we will not only do freelancing and outsourcing, the main objective of our ICT Division is to help young people to create and innovate billion-trillion dollar companies like Google, Amazon, Facebook and Alibaba from our country. In that regard, a huge advance has been made today with the release of the index finger. There are various government services, news portals and entertainment facilities here.
The Minister of State said that the advantage of 'Tarjani' browser launched by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Establishment of Secured E-mail for Government and Digital Literacy Center is that any website can be visited without consuming any data. But Tarjani browser is comparatively very easy to use and user friendly in Bengali. It has various features like index search bar, dark mode, tabs, stop ads, bookmarks, privacy of personal information, incognito.
The managing director of Live Technologies, the developer of the browser Md. Sharif Uddin said, we have also brought Tarjani to make the use of Bengali in the virtual world easier and more popular.
